Reflection + Community Check-In + Action Steps + Journal Prompts + GIFTS YAY!!
I have a new format! If you aren’t already a member, enjoy this nearly full preview!
I think we have all been there. It often happens at the beginning of something new, especially after you’ve made a concrete decision to do something.
You are pumped about this new reality, but something from your past comes slithering by. Maybe it’s a thought. Perhaps a person, place, or thing invades your consciousness like a cold needle.
Tilting your head to the side, your memory starts to fade in and out when it comes to the why, why you made your decision, why you are pursuing your path, why you were so brave in the first place to make this move, and every other why.
This has happened enough times to me that I made up this affirmation.
I will go down this path even if I don’t remember why right now. I trust that I will remember why I made this decision. I always remember why I made this decision
I know this might sound woo-woo to some, but sometimes stress can get to us in this way.
If you are at a crossroads like I am, we should cross the path we walked up to. I know it might feel scary, leaving your street behind, but there must be better roads ahead of us. That’s why our feet lead us here.
This past week, I have built my resolve to chase my dreams. I have been ditching the inner critic and showing up fully as myself. However, some old beliefs began to resurface.
When faced with this past, my lighter-than-air demeanor became a bit heavy. I was still flying, but my toes scraped the ground. Even now, there is a questioning, analyzing whisper inside of me.
Should I or Shouldn’t I?
Even with this, I know I will go forward as I always have.
You aren’t alone if you have those feelings. Keep on feeding yourself uplifting content like this. Connect with like-minded communities in the And We Continued chat or wherever else you can find one. Do inner work as well. I am gifting you some Notion Templates at the bottom of this post that might help out.
You are doing well. I am doing well. Let’s walk forward because we are not able to turn back.
Sincerely,
Your Author Bayinnah
Check-In Chat
For this check-in, I want you to write ‘I can do this! It’s good for me to do this. I am excited to do this!’. If you would like, you can share the thing you would like to do!
I am going to answer this question in the community chat myself. The only people who can access community chat are other paid members, so it is more intimate and filled with like-minded, supportive people.
If you want to share it in the chat community, great! If you don’t, also great! It is up to you and there is no pressure at all.
✎ Journal Prompts!
Here are seven topic-specific journal prompts that will help us on our journey.
What originally inspired me to walk this path?
How can I soothe my inner critic and remind myself of my strengths?
When have I overcome similar feelings of doubt in the past?
Who or what has been my greatest source of support or inspiration, and how can I lean into that?
What moments have reaffirmed my decision along the way?
What is one affirmation I can create to remind myself of my purpose? (e.g. the one I mentioned for myself earlier)
What does my ideal future look like if I stay committed?
🎯 Action Steps
What steps can we take to turn those doubts into confident strides? Well, these actions will help us get back to our baseline of resolve.
🔔 Create a reminder
For me, I have my Pinterest board. For each season, I choose a word I want to embody. For this particular season, I chose the word metanoia which means “to change one's mind; to expand it in such a way as to have a new perspective on the world or one's self ”(Merriam-Webster Dictionary). With this in mind, I wrote down what I wanted to embody and found pictures to match it. I took some of those pictures and made it my phone screen saver.
So, even if I do forget or get influenced by some outside force, I can see what my heart truly wants.
For you, it doesn’t have to be a Pinterest board or a word of your season. You could try sticky notes, diary entries, or anything that speaks to you.
❗DITCH THE INNER CRITIC
I am making this the topic of my next YouTube video because I mean it! Why are you being so harsh on yourself?
Every single time you say something harsh to yourself, I want you to replace it immediately with a counter-thought. Eventually, you will have no harsh thoughts to counter.
For example, if you think “I am not good enough…” I want you to think “What am I talking about? I am good enough!” right after.
These are just some steps we can take. You can do either one or make one up entirely on your own. We are doing better than we think, and we are making progress!
